Honouring a Lifetime of Service and Dedication to the British People

Through the years, The Prince of Wales has been active across a wide range of charitable causes, showing an enduring dedication to bringing people together across all sections of society. Like Her Majesty The Queen, he has always put duty first – a commitment which now sees the prince take on an ever-increasing number of official engagements as Her Majesty’s representative in the United Kingdom, Commonwealth and overseas.

As a year of royal celebration draws to a close, we take a moment to honour our longest serving heir apparent on his 70th birthday. Marking this significant milestone is a year-dated silver Proof crown – one of the only official UK coin editions created for the 70th birthday of The Prince of Wales. The reverse features a new portrait designed by engraver Robert Elderton, who is known for many coin designs over the last 40 years, including the 40th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen's coronation in 1993. Each Proof edition is available in strictly limited numbers, presented in official Royal Mint packaging that is accompanied by a booklet exploring the prince’s life so far.
