Our Five-Year Plan
In 2022, we launched a five-year plan with the goal of becoming known as a premium British brand, using our 1,100 years of experience to produce high-quality products made with precious metals and provide services with sustainable credentials.
The Royal Mint is one of the largest employers in South Wales and retaining employees is integral to the decisions we make as an organisation. As our Currency division continues to reduce over the long term, we are working hard to reskill and transfer employees into other divisions. A number of our employees have already transferred to other production roles within the organisation, and the introduction of our e-waste plant in 2023 will create additional opportunities for redeployment.
Providing a viable manufacturing alternative to international suppliers, our long-term aim is to spearhead the resurgence of jewellery manufacturing in the United Kingdom. 886 by The Royal Mint, our new luxury jewellery division, currently employs 14 people, including metal fabricators, marketing professionals and product designers.
