The British Monarchs Collection is a celebration of the coinage, lives and legacies of some of Britain’s most fascinating kings and queens. This historic set explores the reign of Edward VII, a popular monarch who began life as Young Bertie and came to be known as the ‘Uncle of Europe’.
This coin collection contains nine Sovereigns, one from each year of the monarch’s reign, and each coin features George William De Saulles’ famous bare head portrait of the king. During Edward VII’s reign, Sovereigns were at the height of production, struck at The Royal Mint’s home at Tower Hill or one of the branch mints in operation at the time, so may feature a mint mark signifying its origin. The reverse of all nine coins carry Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic St George and the dragon design. The set is presented in a case, with a booklet exploring Edward VII’s reign and the story of The Sovereign.
