Read the Booklet
From 1817 until the First World War, The Sovereign was a trusted circulating coin that was traded across the world. Renowned for its accuracy and its iconic St George and the dragon design, it was a symbol of national pride and has since earned a reputation as the ‘chief coin of the world’. This exclusive set of circulated Sovereigns, one for each monarch for whom circulating pieces were struck, charts the history of this famous gold coin.
Celebrating great dynasties, the coins span the reigns of three Royal Houses: – the House of Hanover, House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and the House of Windsor. Presented in a bespoke case, the six historic coins feature alongside a signed copy of A History of The Sovereign: Chief Coin of the World written by Dr Kevin Clancy, Director of The Royal Mint Museum.
