The Windrush Generation
Since arriving in the United Kingdom on 21 June 1948, the HMT Empire Windrush has become symbolic of its original passengers and subsequent generations who have played a pivotal role in shaping modern British culture and society since the Second World War.
Representing Modern Britain
Telling the story of an important period in modern British history, the coin honours the many British Caribbean and Commonwealth citizens who arrived in the United Kingdom between 1948 and 1973.
A Respectful Design
Valda Jackson, a multidisciplinary artist, has created a design depicting two people of the Windrush generation, smartly dressed and standing against a backdrop of the Union flag.
An Extensive Range
The range includes a colour-printed silver Proof, a silver Proof Piedfort and a Brilliant Uncirculated edition, the latter of which is exclusively available from The Royal Mint.
