Produced for the coronation of Charles I, which took place in Edinburgh on 18 June 1633. Struck from more than one pair of dies, variations of this medal were made, with some featuring lettering and thickness of flans. Featuring an inscribed edge, this silver medal was presumably produced for presentation to Charles I himself, and possibly his immediate family or supporters. The obverse of the medal features a portrait of Charles I (r.1625–49), facing left, crowned with a draped bust, whilst the reverse features a thistle and rose tree, finished with an edge inscription.
