In 1977, The Royal Mint produced a medal to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the tradition of issuing medals for coronations and other important royal events continues to this day. The obverse of the medal features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II seated on a throne, facing forward and holding a sceptre. The reverse features a Tudor rose within a crown and an inscription that translates to ‘LONG LIVE THE QUEEN’.
